This week I had so much fun gathering wool, spinning , weaving and singing with these beautiful women @dansefestival_barents . Deep gratitude to @maritaisobelsolberg @ekaterinanikitina1983 @mayamiproduksjoner for the warmth and care shared in the process . Deep thanks to @artist_marita_isobel_solberg for creating this magic for dreams to birth new possible worlds. And of course so much appreciation for all the team @dansefestival_barents, the help , warmth and welcoming.
“Are we all really dreamers and weavers dreaming and weaving our lives, our world, our universe into reality? What is reality and what is the real world?
In Weaver / Gođđi / Weaver we collaborate with each other, our attention and our intentions to create our common reality.\n We want to sow seeds of what is beautiful, what gives hope, we want to see, to listen, to each other, to weave, to history, to all that is, so we can live in the moment and create. Along the way, we try to balance so we don’t fall or hurt ourselves, weave or each other, but we also want to push boundaries, maybe even cross some. Everything is possible in dreams and in weaving.
WEAVER is a performance artwork that explores the potential, which through exploration, presence and play takes dreams and weaving seriously.
Artist Marita Isobel Solberg brings Gođđi / Weaver / Weaver base in the weaving technique Rátnu-branches /upstadt weaving, an ancient weaving technique and a tradition she has grown up with in her hometown Olmmáivággi / Manndalen in North Troms. Eventually, this technique was used less and less, but in Manndalen, the technique was maintained and continued, and the place has throughout time been very well-known for this. The weave will be the starting point for exploration, musical interventions, philosophy and play when Marita in collaboration with Stellaris’ dancers and Nazare Soares will use a 5 meter tall emerald weave. “
