UK 2012. Photography Exhibition, 50×50 cm. Series of 15 reversal film onto digital print
“The mirror-image is virtual in relation to the actual character that the mirror catches, but it is actual in the mirror, which now leaves the character with only a virtuality and pushes him back out-of-field.” â Gilles Deleuze
“I am the darkness that is the light and the stillness that is the dancing.” â The Mayan Oracle
In White Mirror, photography becomes a thresholdâa fragile surface where reality fractures and the self dissolves into its own reflection. This work explores the uncertain nature of the way time folds upon itself, and how the act of seeing is always entangled with absence. The images suspend the viewer within the ambiguity of existence, where the border between presence and disappearance remains unstable, constantly shifting.
As perception fragments, so does the certainty of the present. The landscapes in this series do not merely depict space; they externalize interior states, exposing the ways in which we measure the duration of experience. The futureâan unknown yet inevitable unfoldingâcasts its shadow upon the now, stretching beyond the limits of what can be seen.
Throughout White Mirror, the photographic frame itself becomes a paradox: an image capturing what has already slipped away, a mirror reflecting something that no longer exists. Like a reflection in water, this series asks: What remains when the image fades? What lingers beyond the frame? Through the stillness of photography, movement persistsâan echo, a trace, a presence slipping just out of reach.
This series of 15 reversal film photographs, transferred to digital prints, was exhibited in the UK and Spain between 2009 and 2014, including at La Irreal Foto, Photomonth East London Photography Festival, and Magnumâs Photographic Award Exhibition.
